CFIS-Ecopharma is a €1m research project and unique partnership of six organisations funded by the European Commission which aims to improve the quality of surface waters across Europe and meet new EU legislation standards. It aims to help detect chemical pollutants that pose a potential risk to human and marine health, in particular it aims to help detect contaminants in water, such as pharmaceutical products and herbicides.
The objective of the project is to provide a more efficient and accurate sensor (the CFIS-ECOPHARMA) to sample Persistent Organic Pollutants.
