A FilterClear plant was installed at Codsall STW in Severn Trent to meet a total phosphorus (TP) consent of 0.5 mg/L. It has been in operation for over a year now. The site is treating over 20,000 PE, and consisting of both activated sludge and trickling filter streams. FilterClear has demonstrated that not only it can reliably achieve the consent requirements but also the chemical consumption is much lower than expected. This presentation will provide some detailed performance data, including phosphorus removal, chemical dosing ratio, power consumption. Some design and operational aspects, including backwash control and return, dosing point selection will also be discussed here.
