Challenges Faced by Cold AD
1. Reduced Microbial Proliferation
- Bacteria Grow much slower at colder temperatures and makes granular sludge formation occur much slower
2. Reduced Hydrolytic efficiency
- Hydrolysis is impaired, slowing down the process and severely impedes solid degradation
3. Biomass Washout
- The washout of biomass becomes detrimental owing to the impaired bacterial growth at lower temperatures
