Context
88% reduction in P from STWs since 1995 (EA. 2019).
>900 P removal schemes in AMP 7
but…
45% surface waters fail to achieve a good ecological status due to P. More work to do!

NBS – Treatment Wetlands
Long term P removal mostly limited to vegetation uptake. But – seasonal, sometimes P release.
Low removal: 0.1-15g/P/M sq/yr (if reeds are harvested)
And input is >1.0kg P/pe/yr!
Need for new approach and innovation!
